Personally to me, there are 2 reasons for why we do good.
Firstly, people do good because of the relationships between the giver and the receiver. For example, a mother would try her best to help her child in times of trouble. This is an example in which relationship plays a part in way why people do good. This is so as they would want to protect their own kind, and because of they share the same blood, it would only be right that someone would sacrifice anything to do something good for another one who is related to him.
Secondly, people do good because of the mindset of reciprocity. When someone does something good to another person, a person would feel indebeted to him and would have the mindset of wanting to repay the other person. It's the same as the idea of 'you sratch my back, I sratch yours'.
